This week I have learnt a valuable lesson. After a recent storm we were without power in our home for nearly 24 hours. Luckily for our gas stove top and gas hot water we weren't hungry or smelly however, we were placed under a fair bit of pressure.
I couldn't tell you how many times I attempted to turn on a light, how I decided to just do a little ironing, how I thought I might watch a bit of telly. I mean ... duh! Finally the power flickered back on and cheers were heard. You just don't realise how much you rely on something until you don't have it.
BUT, the most valuable lesson I learned was this: If the power ever goes off again, put your 17 year old daughter in the car and drive her directly to grandparents, friends, strangers homes - anywhere - as long as she has power to charge up her iPad and straighten her hair because you don't realise how much you rely on your sanity until you don't have it :)
Over at Southern Girls we are all about Shimmer and Shine this fortnight. Break out the bling, dab on the glitter glue and shimmer away! We are sponsored by Marianne design, flourish with a Bling and Rhoda Design Studio so there will be some fabulous prizes on offer. I have used a Sherri Baldy image, papers from Bazzill Basics and Copic markers.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Crafting by Design Anything Goes
4 Crafty Chicks #164 Multiple layers
Top Tip Tuesday #112 Black and White with a splash of colour
Emerald Faeries #48 Sparkle
Now she looks like a lady who couldn't live without her electricity supply! Glad you've got your power back on - living where we do, I can totally feel your pain! Hugs, Tracey x
ReplyDeleteWOW! This is stunning Jenny. I love the glam image, wonderful colouring and gorgeous detailing.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I don't think I would last more than an hour without power! Glad you survived!
hugs Sue xx
Ooohh, so glamorous! Stunning card, Jenny! Glad you have your power supply back.... living with a teenager is difficult enough at best... living with a 17 year old girl with no ipad or straighteners just doesn't bear thinking about!!!

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - I chuckled at your post - I, too, had a 17 year old daughter - twice - and I absolutely believe everything you say - horrible teenagers - thank goodness they do morph into quite wonderful adults LOL! Way to go girl - you have rocked our 4 Crafty Chicks layers challenge!! Thank you!

Tee hee Not laughing that you had no power, I hate when that happens. I'm laughing 'cause ikwym. No 17 year old girl here but I do have a 10 year old boy who loves his xBox and tv time. If the power ever goes off for more than two minutes he immediately starts asking his dad to get the generator going. And, of course hubby isn't going to go through all that if the power is only going to be off for an hour or two. So, it's kinda the same thing that you went through only I suspect there's more whining here and more teenage angst there. :-)
ReplyDeleteFab card! Sooooooo classy.
This is very neat and perfectly beautiful. I wish I had looked like that at 50!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in the Crafting by Designs challenge...
